Life in a relationally deficient culture has altered our learning process and thus sparked a new interest in mentoring. Mentoring is more than passing on facts and information, it's about relationships.
Jesus adds another dimension to this relational learning process, He extends this command to the community:
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)
These two cited commandments clearly instruct Christians: The key to their walk here on earth is in two vital relationships.
-
With God the Father through Jesus Christ (vertical relationship)
-
With our "neighbor" (horizontal relationships).
Late this summer there was a Mentor Training course that took place in preparation for this ministry. A strong attendance indicated that many believers desire to be mentors. Many mentoring relationships are already happening; however, a formal organizational plan is not yet in place. Please contact us for more information.
